We had a couple of overnighters early in the week, with the Te Puke Polytech Maritime students. Had a good start around Brewis with the tarakihi, but the current picked up and the fish slowed right down, not altogether an unusual occurance We had an evening fish around Motiti, but with no moon at all, and even more current, it was pretty much a lost cause after dark. We did pick up a couple of legal snapper and a few littlies, just ot show they were there, but just not interested. Next day we tried around Town Pt, and had a continuation of Monday. Caught a few but very slow so we tried deeper, then deeper again around Motiti, with things continuing to be pretty tough everywhere. Tuesday night, Wednesday was, alas, more of the same. We went from 40-80m around Motiti, tried around the Lab, gave Brewis another look, for an even tougher day than Monday. A shame, because they were good keen crews and put the effort in. At least the weather was good. We tried out towards Mayor on Thursday, a bit slow, but a definite improvement over the previous days,with another nice day and good conditions. The tarakihi all seem to have spawned now, and once they have it normally slows down a bit, with them tending to feed when conditions are pretty well perfect for them and not too keen if they're aren't. The weather turned well and truly to custard on Friday so that was that. Had a good track day at Taupo tho'on Saturday, the bike went well and I didn't crash, had to be a good one
