July's weather has been a bit of an improvement over June with some good settled days. Still cold enough to put off the fishermen a bit, which is a pity because the fishing, as is often the case in winter, has been generally excellent.

We've had good catches of tarakihi and snapper mainly. Generally less current has been a factor in this, but even when it has been stronger, the catches have been good.

We had a couple of reef trips last week and both were very productive, as has been the case for the last month or two when we've had the numbers and conditions to get out.

So it's well worth a go even if temperatures are down a bit.
