The recent weather has May looking a bit more Mayish, but it's all still coming across the Tasman and down from the North, so the water temp. is still good, around 17.5-18* and there's no prevailing wind from any one direction[ i.e. South].
Hopefully it'll stay like this, similar to what it was last winter, but with a bit less wind speed, and a few more frosts followed by by clear, calm days and good easy fishing conditions.
The last couple of summers have been excellent, with the savage W/S.W of a few years ago in Oct, Nov. easing to breezes, so if the trend continues some mild winters are due.
We did get a couple of days in last week, with the good fishing continuing. Good tarakihi in the deeper water, and increasing amounts of snapper among them.
An evening fish at Mayor had similar results and we had a reasonable amount of bluenose, bass[smallish] and gemfish the next day before the current and wind picked up with the usual results, namely, no more fish.
