Another good week weather and fishing wise, with the days a bit windy quite often, but not enough to be a problem. Things were looking a bit nasty for a week or two, but the westerlies haven't slammed us like they were doing a few years ago so hopefully the El Nino pattern isn't going to be too much of an issue. If those big highs up North keep pushing the lows down, we should see the water starting to warm up pretty soon and the pelagic and game fish start to show up. There's been a few hapuku caught out wide which is great to here as they've been pretty scarce for quite a while. Let's hope it's a first sign of those tropical currents bringing the fish back in close. We've seen it happen with the snapper and tarakihi in the last 2 years, so they're about due.
