Last week was typical of the last few weeks/months with good fishing early in the week and hardening up considerably for the weekend. We had a very good Tuesday, pretty much a limit day on tarakihi and the odd snapper also, but Friday was a lot harder, similar conditions, but the fish just weren't playing ball. An overnighter on Friday/Sat was also a toughie with only 3 fish caught on the night fish and another slow day on the Sat. Around Mayor we were catching some of the smallest tarakihi I've seen, but there was a bit of current and heaps of krill and jelly floating through, all contributors to slower fishing. The deeper water was also slow, so while not a disaster, the Northpower boys their hardest trip in a fair while.
