Weekly Fishing Report

A pleasant change last week as we had the rough weather midweek and quite good conditions over the weekend.

We had a 2 dayer, so given a S.E. forecast Friday/ Sat. we had an evening fish on the way to Motiti, picked up some snapper and a few tarakihi. Nothing great, but it's generally slower around the new moon so no great surprise.

We got away early Sat. and drift fished our way towards Mayor, got a couple of nice kingies around the 15kg mark and picked up some bluenose as well.

Sunday morning we had ideal conditions,  enough wind for slow steady drifts, and  steady current so every drift was unvarying. The fishing underlined the conditions, with good quantities of bluenose and gemfish [and a small hapuku]. The size is still on the small side but at least there's a bit more around now.

A bottom fish on Monday also had good conditions and good amounts of tarakihi caught, not as much snapper as the previous trip though.
