Despite all the rough weather we've been having, it's still a trend I'd rather see than the pattern prior to the last couple of years.
Last winter and this we've had predominately lows rolling across the Tasman, bringing plenty of wind from every direction as they pass over, but good periods of weather in between, witness the amount of frosts and still, calm days we've had amongst the rough and rainy ones.
Contrast that to the previous 5 or 6 winters where it was mainly big lows coming up from Antarctica, with what seemed like non stop southerlies and, my favorite wind, the beautiful sou'westerly [yeah right], guaranteed to blow at about twice the speed they're forecast, mainly due to the way they funnel down the Kaimais, gaining speed all the way.
This also reflected in the fishing patterns, with generall harder fishing and steadily decreasing areas to find any great quantities of them.
