Another unsettled week, with no people on the nicer days midweek, and fairly hard conditions over the weekend. Saturday we started off around the middle ground where it was a bit calmer, but after a couple of hours of little snapper and not much else we headed out a bit deeper. There was a confused sea, with N.E. swell and 25kn S.E. wind on top of it, still, not much current and quite reasonable fishing. Mainly tarakihi with a few nice trevally and some reasonable snapper.
Sunday was more N.E. swell, up to 4m, but less wind, which made things a bit more comfortable, unfortunately the current was quite a lot stronger from the N.E., enough to slow the fishing quite a lot compared to Sat.
So similar tallies of fish, just different rates of catching,
It looks like the next few days are going to be pretty snotty too, a not unusual pattern in May, still optimistic of a decent June and maybe July. This game is always a case of hope for the best, expect for the worst, optimistic pessimism, or is it pessimist optimism
