Weekly Fishing Report

We started off  the week in the shallower water off Papamoa, but things were pretty slow, with only a few small snapper, worked our way around the middle ground, where we had a few more snapper and some tarakihi come up, but still not very inspiring. A couple of spots around the Okaparus were similarly slow, but we finally had a bit of joy around Brewis, steady at best, but things have been a bit slower lately around the Motiti area.

So on Thursday we headed towards Mayor, and had a good day, mainly tarakihi, with the odd snapper and red snapper as well. No current seemed to be the difference compared to Motiti, the S.E we've been having are possibly stirring things up just enough to put the fish off a bit.

An overnighter Friday/Sat. was a bit sloppier than expected, the swell from the N.E. was up and with a bit of S.E. wind on top, kept everyone on their toes. Still, most of the crew were regulars well used to the vagaries ofthe weather.

The evening fishing was ok, a bit slower with less moon around,  Sat. was hard work at first, but, typical Easterly, eased as the day progressed and the fishing improved as the wind dropped. Mainly tarakihi, red snapper and some pink maomao, which we haven't seen many of this season.
