Weekly Fishing Report

A TOUGH MONTH
25th August 2008

Apologies for the lack of reports, but the weather has been so unsettled that there hasn't been a lot to report. We've got the odd reef fish in, and there's a reasonable amount of tarakihi and assorted species around.

When conditions are suitable they've been coming up in quite good quantities.
Still a lot of smaller fish, the bigger ones are among them, theyre just not feeding unless everything's perfect for them. Soooooo.......on to September

MAKOS AND TARAKIHI
13th August 2008

A bonus getting the weekend in as well, the fishing was not quite as full on as Thursday but still good, there was a bit more current  which I'd say contributed to  it being a bit slower.

We went a bit deeper and were getting  slightly bigger tarakihi and a few more trevally, still some snapper and red snapper plus we got a couple of makos which were a bit of fun for Ben and Wade as well as the crew.

They put on a good show before we released them and thanks to James who got some good photos and sent us the disc as well.

We were planning on calling some of the guys who've been wanting to go out hapuku fishing but there's yet another heap of rain and wind coming so yet another postponement.

Patience is supposedly a virtue but I'm feeling  a bit more virtuous than I ever wanted to be.

FINALLY, A DAY OUT
7th August 2008

Finally got a day in, which was good, as a few of the regulars, me included, were getting a bit antsy. A nice settled winter's day, and some good fishing too. We started off in close, plenty of tarakihi, nothing too big but ok, then tried a bit deeper, also very good; a few more snapper [30-35cm] couple of trevs and mainly tarakihi again, but a bit bigger than before.

They went consistently the whole time we were out, not a lot of current helped, and no doubt they felt like a feed after the unsettled weather we've had.

So,an early day and everyone happy.
